Meet our team

Our story & values

Anita Message is the Home Manager here at Alfriston Court, with nearly 40 years of experience in care.

Care of the elderly is her passion and feels absolutely privileged to be part of this very special Care Home, within the beautiful village of Alfriston. Every member of staff has been hand-picked and each brings unique qualities, skills and strengths to the wonderful team that we are.

Please do get in contact if you are considering nursing or residential care – we have so much to offer you and would be delighted to meet you and show you our Home. You will receive a very warm welcome!

Care

Care is ‘what we do’ and it’s why people come to us for help. The care we deliver helps the individual person to live a dignified life and improves their overall health. This is our work and our calling. People receiving our care trust us to get it right for them.

Communication

Communication is central to successful caring relationships and to effective team working. Listening is as important as what we say and do. It is essential for “no decision about me without me”. Communication is key, with benefits for those in our care and staff alike.

Competence

Competence means all those in caring roles must be able to understand an individual’s health and social needs, and have the expertise, clinical and technical knowledge to deliver effective care and treatments based on research and evidence.

Compassion

Compassion is how care is given through relationships based on empathy, respect and dignity. It can be described as Intelligent Kindness and is central to how people perceive their care.

Courage

Courage enables us to do the right thing for the people we care for, to speak up when we have concerns. It means we have the personal strength and vision to innovate and embrace new ways of working.

Commitment

Commitment to our residents is the cornerstone of what we do. We need to build on our commitment to improve the care and experience of our residents and to meet the health and social challenges which may be ahead.

Anita Message
Deputy Manager

Anita has worked at Alfriston Court as a Registered Nurse for over 5 years. She qualified in 1986 as a Registered General Nurse, and lives by the motto "If you find a job you love, you’ll never have to work again”.

Meet the proprietors, Will and Deborah

We have always aimed to create a comforting and safe environment that feels like home for those in our care, making our move into the care industry in 2019 a natural step. Debs’ parents had managed exceptional care homes, showing that creating a lovely environment in a care setting is possible.

Prior to this, Will worked as an NHS doctor before advising healthcare companies in the USA for 8 years.

We strongly believe in establishing tranquil, resident-centered care environments, like Alfriston Court, that hold immense value for residents and their families.

Though transitioning into a care facility can be complex, we think it should be a fulfilling chapter in residents’ lives.

Debs oversees the leadership team at Alfriston Court several times a week, while Will also provides oversight alongside his work advising the NHS and other healthcare organizations.
